Want to know about RJ-45 Ethernet Physical Layer

10/25/2010 5:34 PM

For my project I'd like to know how the Ethernet Physical Layer works. For example, what kind of modulation scheme is used for data transmission? What are the logic high and logic low voltages? If I were to use a circuit to send signals into the Ethernet Port, what voltage levels should the circuit be sending? In addition, I'd like to know how the computer actually receives these signals. Is it by the transformer behind the Ethernet Port in the computer? Any advices is appreciated. Thanks.

Have you done anything to find the information for yourself? Searched the internet? Visited the library?

No-one here is going to write you a bespoke text-book (tho' someone may well try to do your searching for you).

I'm not trying to put you off CR4 - but (as it says at the top of the page) it is , rather than a free tutorial site.

If you find out as much as you can for yourself and still have questions, feel free to come and ask those specific questions - if you can show that you've made a bit of effort, someone will almost certainly help you.

Check into the limits that capacitive duractance can induce by shielding the magneto modial reluctance.
