Backshot Waterwheel Power Generation

Good am/pm Fellow Eng, I have a question i would like 2 ask, i am considering building a waterwheel but not sure which value twin alternators 2 use, i am a novice in this field of engineering. My plans are 2 build a backshot w/w with 2 alternators either side as a direct PTO. CONSIDERING BUT NOT SURE 12-24-48v & a bank of HD batterys (6) COULD SOME 1 DIRECT ME IN MY QUEST pls.

Some of the DIY wind power sites have good information on home-built alternators suited to the relatively low rpm's of wind turbines and water wheels. The types of alternators used with Pelton wheels would also be a good match.

If you're thinking of using automotive alternators for cheapness and availability, I'd have thought a water wheel would be too slow for direct drive.
