An understanding of basic geometry was taught to me at age 15. To be able to do understand most electrical engineering you must be comfortable with Calculus. If you cannot derive a formula for the cross sectional area of a Busbar, then you should not be trying to do electrical engineering.

measure the fence surrounding your house..multiply two sides and voila!!!!..you got your self an area...same goes with bus bars..maybe what youre trying to ask is bus bar sizing...check out some of the threads here...they have tons of it regarding your question..
