Anode Validity - Magnesium Anode and Zinc Ground Cell

10/30/2010 5:03 AM

Dear Sirs,

we are working in new pipe lines 2 Km, when we installed the magnesium anode and zinc ground cell we get 640 mV from anode and 540 from ZGC which are not within acceptable range so kindly advise how to rectify this.

and if these anode had been stored for long time ( 3 years ) will affect there perfofmance

Thanks

Dear,

Please make your question clear. what is the weight of the Mg anode? Mg anodes are commonly having open circuit potential of 1.5-1.7v with respect to Cu/CuSo4 reference cell and have current carrying capacity of 1115 Ahr/KG. so please mention your references for readings 640 and 540.

also mentionthe native potential of the pipeline. for grounding you need to use polarisation cells.

is it a prepacked one? if it is bare anode 3 years is not a problem....
