Hello, I'm currently looking into skin potentials and healing as a undergraduate project. So far I have come across the concept of the skin battery (negative charge on the outside positive charge on the inside ie sub dermal) My question is, without abrading the skin would a potential reading occur? ie do we have `skin surface electrical activity'.A normal skin battery range can range from 0 to -60mV. If I were just to measure the surface activity at two points would I find a reading of -60mV , or is it only related to a comparison of outer and inner states rather than a seperate outer potential. I must admit my biology knowledge is at a fairly low level (although as I'm investigating this area I am trying to improve it via reading round the subject) an hope I haven't wasted anyones time with this being a nonsense question.
