Replace Directional Valve Type Tandem by Type Float

11/02/2010 7:51 AM

Good day sir.

I got problem with directional valve. the type of directional val is tandem type (Port P is connect with port T. Port A and B is blocked) is fault. I have a question, Can I replace the fault directional valve type tandem by new directional valve type float (port A,B,T is connected, port P is blocked, and separate from port A,B,T) with following conditions:

- use port A as port P

- Use port B as port T

- use port P as port A

- use port T as port B

So in the neutral position, the pressure oil will go to port A (not port P) and return to the tank by port B (not port T) (the port T is connect to heavy load ,so port is blocked).

Is this Possible. Please help me solve my problem. Thanks a lot

Be careful NOT all directional valves accept high pressure on port "T". The type of valve should depend on function you expect to be performed. Give the function and then you can get a correct answer.

Nick name is correct. If the valve is a spool type it will almost certainly not allow system pressure on the T port. Most valves will have a limited back pressure allowance on T port

However, it may be possible but we need more information such as working pressure of system; fluid (Air, gas or hydraulic).

Thanks a lot for your answer. The pressure of oil is much hight (about 300 bar).

You did not answer the full question! How can you expect a good counsel if you do not give enough data ?

Thanks you very very much , You are so kind,my problem is the system hydraulic of the crane.

i ask another question the same with this question

Please help me to answer my question:

I use the first directional valve tandem type 4 port/3 position (Port P is connect with port T. Port A and B is blocked) to connect in series with the second directional valve tandem type (4/3). I mean the port "T" of the first valve is connect to the port "P" of the second valve. I thinks to the problem will happend:

-the pressure oil of port T in the lower stage first valve can cause damage to the upper stage ?

- what will be happen as the pressure oil in port " T" is hight (300 bar)?

- the system of hydraulic is work property with this design?

Thanks for reading my question ? I use this systerm hydraulic (1 pump unidirectionnal drive 2 motor bi directional by 2 tandem directional, can you tell me the better design. Thanks you in advance

Hello,

To answer your question you need to provide (a) the complete hydraulic circuit (b) the part number of the units (c) the manufacturers names.

300 bar on the tank port of an electrically operated solenoid valve is not on with any commercially available solenoid valve currently on the market.

As it on a crane and obviously there is considerable risk you need advise from someone who is familar with the complete machine and system.
