Blog Tags Longer Than Whole Blog

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? It is just a small irritant, like needing to fart at the movies.

Needing to fart at the movies is only an irritant for the people sitting around me, and it's not a small irritant, it's usually large.....and it has colors in it. Like one of those killer clouds in the original Star Trek.

And how about those tag lists with every word in the dictionary in them, so that every search will turn up such-and-such dopey Website?

What purpose do the tags really serve - to feed someone's ego?

As it might be that one of "my blogs" might have triggered this, I'd just like to say that it appears that the site collects every tag from every blog posting, rather than just the tags for the current post.

As i have over 200 plus posts on speakingofprecision and each usually has at least a handful of tags (appropriate not just for ego) a quick calculation shows that the list of every tag ever assigned will (has) grown longer than most posts.

The "tags that you may see in the tags list might have come from one or more of the prior posted posts. The Tags column does not limit the tags displayed to only those in the current post; It displays all tags given so far in the blog, as far as I can see...

I can assure you I am not obsequiously trolling with tags, but have provided them with each blog that is mirrored here on CR4. I'll let the real admins explain what/ how this might be "trimmed."

I believe Milo is correct - the tag column on the right shows all tags for the entire blog, not the specific blog entry. This is just how the site was coded. I'm not sure anyone ever anticipated how many tags would build up over time. Perhaps the editorial team could consolidate some of the similar tags; however, I'm sure they do help bring some new users to the site. Honestly, I don't even see them anymore. I just read the content.
