Transmission Problems

11/11/2010 7:08 AM

i have a 98 taurus dropped the tranny and replace the converter, I installed it and now i get a p0715 code, I also took it for a spin and it seems that is not shifting after 40 miles. What could it be?

Welcome to the insanity. Pull up a keyboard and enjoy the ride. I have nothing nice to say about the transmissions used in the Taurus. I have rebuilt transmissions for the first 15 years of my career. But that one kicked my butt. There are some sharp people on this site that have rebuilt transmissions way longer than me that will post some answers soon. Good luck.

andy,

Bring up Google and enter "98 taurus p0715 code", I found 3,870 results.

One site in specific was: http://www.10w40.com/questions/other-questions/failed-code-p0715 but it related to a 2000 Taurus.

Google should get you going in the right direction.

Good luck!

Andy , could you provide some additional info, such as, why did you need to replace the torque converter? Did you recheck all your connections on assembly? Is that 40 MPH or 40 miles distance?

a code will tell you the error but not necessarily how to resolve the problem. a code reader is not a magic box.
