Asking for Formula and Working Details as a Beginner Electrical Engineer

11/13/2010 7:31 AM

A current of 50A is carried by two cables in parallel. One cable has a resistance of 0.15ohms-and carries 20A. What is the resistance of the other cable?

Calculate the voltage for the cable you know. Because it's in parallel, the voltage will be the same across both cables. So, you know the voltage, and you know the current , then just calculate the resistance.

This is a simple circuit of 2 resistors in parallel. The current divides inversely proportional to the resistance. Draw the circuit and use
Ohm's law.

sorry to tell that you that you are not an electrical engineer.

even a college or a highschool student could do that.. please try to solve it... it is just a parallel circuit.. how did you become an electrical engineer?

This is the very tough question ever posted in the forum. I am also waiting for the calculation. It is too hard for an electrical engineer to understand and calculate this type of highly complicated problems. Please ask your Boss to do not give you such targets any more. I want to help you. But need three page calculation and plenty of time behind that.
