Estimating Cost for Stadium

11/13/2010 5:37 PM

We are in process of rough estimating cost for stadium for 40- 45,000 people before drawings are drafted- and wonder if there are such things as generic or public domain engineering drawings that can be inspected and used for different costing scenarios, without violating any rights or laws?

If so are they downloadable ? Do you have a site that can be downloaded from? Thanks CEW Gonzalez

I'd think that anything in the pubic domain is so outdated as to be useless.

If I had designed such a facility, I would not let you use my work product without adequate compensation.

But, I am not a civil engineer.

China has built one for the Bahamians in Nasau. Estimated 60 million, but they run 30 million short.

We don't know if you are the client or the builder?

If you are the client, it is easy to go to some recent projects and talk costs with the communities that built the stadia. The information is generally already in the public domain as the citizens are entitled to know where their money is going. Even private firms need to publish accounts for their shareholders.

If you are the builder, you really should know the answer to this question already.

The cost for a 40 000 seat stadium will vary very much depending on location and overall design. "Does it need a roof?" is one question which costs alot of money.

A further source for costs are the architectural / engineering firms' web sites and architectural / engineering magazines which will often have a cost for the project although not much greater information than a single figure.

You can also contact someone in the architectural / engineering societies such as ICE or RIBA in the UK.
