BCH Coding/Decoding

11/14/2010 4:02 PM

Good evening, I am trying to self teach myself with BCH coding for data transmission.

I have resources but I am not, to put it lightly. As bright as some of these authors. I am just no grasping the idea. I have a paper by Hank Wallace on BCH (31,16) system

I am having issues with using cyclotomic cosets with respect to the encoding in creating the generator poly.

With respect to decoding, at this point I just want to determine if there is error or not.

Anyone can help me out, or have anything helpful?

I doubt that I can help you, but maybe if you defined the acronym "BCH" you might get some help.

(From the context, it appears to be something like an error correcting code--it's been a very long time since I fooled with anything like that (at the time, things like the (or a?) Gray-Hamming code, iirc).)
