Solar Aussie

Can any one advise me? I am buying a hand operated size 32 meat mincer, I have a single phase one and a half HP motor which I want to drive it with.

the motor has 1425 rpm speed what speed should mincer operate at and what gear ratios are needed to get to operate,I think the Mincer has an 8 inch pulley.

I presume I need a lay shaft to get the speed reduction .

My guess is you would turn it by hand at 2 - 3 revs/sec, 120 - 180 rpm. So would need something like a 10:1 reduction from motor speed. If you can get a motor pulley about 1" dia that should be near enough. You probably want to go a bit faster than by hand to increase throughput, if you're going to the trouble of motorising it.

With 1.5 HP there will be plenty of power!

Cheers......Codey
