RS 485/485 Bus Repeater Repairing

11/25/2010 8:50 AM

Dear members

Most of our PSM-ME-RS485/RS485-P BUS REPEATERS made by "Phoenix Contact" got damaged by lightening and I want to repair them. Some of the repeaters I repaired by replacing the Voltage Regulator IC "LM2577S" and they worked fine. On the other repeaters by replacing the voltage regulator IC, the VCC and RD Leds work fine but the TD Led is not working. Can anyone help me in sorting out this problem. I dont understand which part will be defective. Thanks in advance.

The RS485 transmitters and receivers OR Transceivers are the components actually connected to the line: they are very robust, but, receive the biggest hit.

TI (Texas Instruments) National Semi, LTC, Maxim and many others all make pin compatible devices. For example these are the LTC 8 pin transceivers:-
