Twisting of Geometry

Hi, My question. I have a 2.6mts of a aluminium sheet of 2mm thickness bent as a C channel.Now i want to know how to calculate the twisting effect of the materials when i hold the section on one end and apply a twist on other end.i want to know how to calculate or design the section inorder minims the twist nature of the geometry. THIS IS URGENT ,IF ANY ONE KNOWS,PLease Suggest me. Thank You for ur support.

I don't know from whence you spring, but here in the USA, it's Thanksgiving Day. It is a day of reflection about those things which enrich our lives.

You seem to be under some distress, otherwise you would not be shouting at us, which is VERY RUDE!!!!

Do you have a test tomorrow? Or, perhaps a deadline at work that you can't meet because of your ignorance of the topic of torsion? Or, are you just curious about such things.

Regardless, I have done a casual search for you. Maybe you should learn how to perform such simple searches for your self.

try googling "torsion open section". this will give you some good results to enable you to calculate the deformations.

to limit the deformations you can fix the end sections against warping by welding a flat plate across the C section.

depending on the aspect ratio of your section, the warping may be significant or negliglible. do you have the overall characteristics of your section ?
