How about a manometer.

I'm not sure what the aod stands for (is this a steel mill application--maybe an "AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization) unit for refining specialty steels"?

But differential pressure is the difference between the pressure on two sides of--in the case of a baghouse, the filter bags. It is an indication of how dirty the filter bags are.

As lynlynch suggested, a manometer can do the job for a local reading. For a remote reading, a differential pressure transmitter will do the job, or for just giving an alarm, a differential pressure switch will do the job.

Agreed, and if he wants to do it cheap, for the ΔP likely with a bag filter, a water manometer made from from clear plastic hose would work. Can be arranged for ΔP, or 2 separate ones and subtract, or if one side is at atmospheric pressure (eg blower suction) just 1 manometer is OK.

A Manometer is the same as a magnehelic device to read pressure drop across the filter media?

I don't know what a magnehelic device is, but a simple manometer can be a length of flexible clear plastic tube, typically 6mm bore, bent into a U shape. Usually filled with water. You can clip it to a board and add a scale if you want.

Magnehelic is a brand name of a type of differential pressure measuring device.

It IS NOT the same as a manometer. It uses a bordon tube.

Dwyer Intrument makes the Magnehelic.

OK thanks I was not sure, I re-read my post and It was suppose to be in the form of a question and it doesn't due to using an A in lieu of Is. Thanks for clearing that up.

Dywer Instruments also makes Magnehelics that come with analog output modules that can be used for remote sensing of differential pressure.

Dywer Instruments are relatively inexspensive and provide decent service.

If your process is more mission critical, you might want to try Rosemont.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)

11/26/2010 6:55 AM

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is a common thermoplastic used to make light, rigid, molded products such as piping, for example, plastic pressure pipe systems, musical instruments most notably recorders and plastic clarinets, golf club heads - used for its good shock absorbance, automotive body parts, wheel covers, enclosures

Yes, ABS is good stuff. Don't know what it's got to do with this thread, though.
