Can we have a satisfactory weld of a GI Pipe with a simple Carbon Steel and does the smoke coming out during welding has any infection on human inspiration system.
Smoke from any source is made up of fine particles of the materials being burned. Even when welding the smoke coming off the weld area is or can be considered toxic. So as welders we have become used to respirators or supplied air hoods for these operations. Gone are the days of sucking up fumes.
The rest of the zinc (not vapourised) is likely to contaminate the weld puddle.
Find the weldability of the GI (since in lot of cases the Gi is actually GS - galvanised steel)
If it is wrought/ acst iron galvanised, it is weldable to steel but with reservation (the application conditions- temperature, pressure, fluid,.. may limit it)
