DDR1,2 and 3 RAM is what computers have moved through so far. The differences are basically clock rates upon the chips, power usage and larger buffers. DDR was generally used on computers before Pentium 4 (2000), DDR 2 has been used since 2000 until about 2008, when DDR3 became supported with the current computer technologies, supporting CPUs such as AMD Phenom 2, Intel I3,5,7. Although DDR2 is still available (I still have it in my computer), over the next few years it will be phased out, as people upgrade their computers. RAM is all SDRAM (Synchronous dynamic random access memory) meaning it is synchronized with the system bus.
