CCVT VS. CVT VS. VT

12/04/2010 12:58 AM

1. What is the difference between Capacitor Voltage Transformer, Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformer and Voltage Transformer?

2. Why is DC Voltage used in Testing Electrical Equipments not AC Voltage?

Thanks

1.What is the difference between Collage education, work experience and simply get informations from internet.?

2. Why is CR4 used in getting electrical knowledge not your education and skills?

Thanks

basically both of them are same called CVT or CCVT. because this VT works on coupled capacitor principle.

testing using DC voltage means, what kind of test are you refering, the IR for the CVT, we can find DC test units are universally used, we can use AC test units also but the size of the test units are a bit large compared to the DC units.

A voltage transformer is used in the output stage of the CCVT (or CVT). A CVT is the same as a CCVT, which are just capacitive voltage dividers to provide a test voltage at reasonable levels.

CCVT and CVT are same. Basically they are capacitor voltage divider.

DC voltage is used for IR( Insulation Resistance ) and DC H.V. withstand test. One most advantage is when DC voltage is applied across insulation, the acceptable leakage current is very less( in the order of few milli amp.)for healthy insulation. This means that, the requirement of VA capacity is less(leakage current*applied voltage) and as such weight of testing set is less for easy transportibilty. In case of AC High Voltage test set, applied voltage is AC RMS voltage and leakage current will be high compared to DC high voltage ( due coupling capacitor forming) and VA capacity will be high. So it is suitable for laboratory ( fixed installation) test.
