What is the code that governs the number of hospital beds corresponding to number of inmates for a prison hospital?

Where are you incarcerated?

You know, maybe a little hint as to what country? Or, since it may not have occurred to you that it matters, even the state, county or city.

I'll bet you're innocent, too. Right?

Actually I am a Mechanical Engineer consulted by one of my colleagues who's working on design review of a standard correctional facilities for men, women, and youth in Saudi Arabia, and they are looking into adapting the American code if there is any, in conclusion I am not guilty nor incarcerated, hoping that does not disappointed you.

Congratulations.

I'd start here"

  1. Hospital Regulations
  2. Realizing that you are dealing with a foreign country with different religious beliefs, I'd say you should hire a local consultant.

Acronym time--what is I.L.M.E.?

The NEC has some provisions for various institutional occupancies, and there might be a like organization that dictate bed/inmate ratios. A Penal Code, perhaps? If any one jail falls short, it could farm out the least dangerous inmates to other local hospitals.

I looked into several code such as the California codes but couldn't find my target, especially they discuss mostly the secured wards in general hospitals and maximum number of beds attended by one nurse etc.

In my case the government is planning to have a fully independent hospital to eliminate any use to transfer prisoners outside of jail

Being largely a theocratic state, Saudi Arabia no doubt has a large number of official "crimes" that should not be deemed crimes in the first place.

Because of this, a substantial fraction of prison inmates are likely to be innocent of any real crime that would actually harm anyone else.

If any such innocent inmate should die under the "care" of the prison, let us imagine that the wrath of Allah would weigh heavily upon all the guilty or negligent persons that allowed this to happen.

It would be interesting to see how these considerations affect the decision-making process.
