Best UPS Systems

12/06/2010 12:35 PM

Folks,

I am looking at a project to install a 208/3P/100A UPS unit to power an entire electrical panel for a data room.

In your opinion, who makes the product on the market and what are some of the features I should look for in a quality UPS?

Regards,

Paul

EATON makes the Best Power UPS systems. Best is their brand name. Your boss maybe looking for this specific product line.

At the power levels that you are looking at I would consider an inertia UPS system. You won't have to deal with concerns of dealing with a large battery bank like out gassing, chemical hazards, and undetected battery failures appearing only when the power goes out. Most inertia systems I've seen are already designed to accept a second input power source so firing up and connecting a backup generator will be an easy task. You will of course have to establish how long your UPS system is expected to maintain your expected load.

My bad. I meant to say who makes the best (not "BEST") UPS on the market.

I've used these guys for years and been satisfied so far. Look here for help with capacity calculations and to learn more. What's best is ultimately up to you!

Being a 3rd party inspection agency and having worked with companies from the small engineering office to huge data centers for world class companies, I have come to prefer the following for their diligence, openness, and freely available online training seminars and engineering documents.

Of course, like anything personal experience means a lot in the choosing.
