It is an interesting and promising field in the coming years.it has a very good scope since the power electronics is THE only subject that connects the electrical and electronics world. there is a very good research in 12 pulse converters used HVDC and matrix converters used in wind generation. since the there is a power deficiency of in INDIA ,will be trying to improve the efficiency of power transmission by exploiting the knowledge of power electronics.even there is a great research in FACTS which power electronics devices.for more details go through the given link:Career options
