You are trying to relate these terms as if they are mutually exclusive when they are not.
ACS = automated control system, characterized by being closed loop, no operator input. That COULD BE a DCS or part of a DCS or part of a SCADA system, but would not necessarily replace one. A DCS could also be part of a SCADA system, a SCADA system and an ACS could be used in a plant that is controlled by a DCS.
Different terms, different functions.

ACS = typically referrs to a small system associated with one machine or one small process. But if an entire plant or process could be run unsupervised, it may even include a DCS.
DCS = Large process control system, as used in an entire production facility or plant, may contain control of an ACS or multiple ACS's and even a smaller SCADA system.
SCADA system = wide area system that may be looking at and controlling multiple DCS systems, multiple plants, multiple ACS systems, PLCs, PACS, individual monitoring components etc. etc. May also be used to describe a smaller supervisory system for a plant-wide process that is ultimately controlled by a DCS.
