This is a textbook Rule 75 question with a followup whinge.

The parameters relate to the requisite power supply and demand in a given installation.

Google is your friend, I suggest that you consult him.

If you have no joy there, search the manufacturers websites for data sheets of the devices your interested in.

If that leaves you dazed and confused, then seek the help of a person whom is competant in the field of electrical engineering.

If all that fails, ring John Laws*

Lynlynch can jump in any time now..

The circuit breaker must be capable of breaking the normal maximum operating current expected to supply the load. It must also be capable of withstanding the fault current at that point in the circuit for as long as it is expected the protection will take to clear the fault.

The industry moved away from oil circuit breakers in the sixties to vacuum and then to SF6 and now we are back with vacuum again.

Switch fuse units are generally cheaper than circuit breakers but do not provide the discrimination necessary for protection schemes.

I agree with Tobugrynbak, this is too basic of a question and a decent answer would entail a semester's worth of discourse. This is the kind of thing you learn in Electrical Engineering courses, not in one or two paragraphs in a free forum from anonymous posters.

The main parameter is Money. You must have enough money to buy all those. otherwise use normal fuses and disconnecting switches only.

MCB- current, voltage and short circuit withstand current.

MCCB- same as MCB

ELCB,RCCB - leakage current, current, voltage, short circuit withstand current.

Load break isolator,SFU,OCB,ACB,SF6- same as MCB.

gang operated switch - this need a gang of people to operate.

The very forum is for promotimg one's "self interest" in acquring more knowledge. If this forum is all about sharing knowledge, we do it at a larger scale, in a structured way. Please be reminded that I or we do not have any sort of self interest - whatsoever - in informing the OPs and others about the details of some training courses available on the subjects asked. It is only to make people aware that such training modules are available. We only inform and NOT compel anybody to attend to our training programmes. I wish you desist from making such "silly" business like comments in this forum anymore.
