Centrifuge dynamic braking

12/09/2010 12:41 PM

Can I use dynamic braking on centrifuge that employs centrifugal clutch or do i have to retrofit the centrifuge to a direct drive and remove the clutch? I am concerned that the clutch not meant to take reverse torque.

If this is the Westfalia model mentioned in the prior post, going to a direct drive would lead to many issues (there's a reason it has a clutch in there). I'd recommend that any non-emergency braking be done only after it has stopped.

My suggestion is to follow the standard shut down procedure. Yes, it takes time to slow down, just go make a fresh pot of coffee and wait.
