UPS input Cos fi

12/14/2010 10:35 AM

Hello, As you know a UPS which has a PFC unit with IGBT has quasi 1.0 power factor. I wonder what would be input cosfi of it, if it was a 12 pulse rectifier diode input and the load was a pure resistance.?

There is nothing called input power factor in electrical engineering.

Since the load is resistive, φ (Greek letter phi, not fi) = 0; hence cos φ = 1.

it is funny that you say "there is no input power factor in electrical engineering" really. As you know there is a PFC circuit in modern UPS's so the p.f of your is different that the input p.f of your UPS.I hope you got it dear guest...
