What is the formula for a feeler gauge?

Depends on the bearing manufactures requirements on how you set the pre-load on each type and style of bearing. Dodge has one way of doing this and others do as well. If your not sure I would suggest contacting your bearing supplier and they can get you the proper information for the bearing your planing to use. Make sure you get the proper info before adjustments are made. If you have never completed a task such as this, most bearing manufactures will usually send someone in to help you learn this task (might be slight charge). But, without the knowledge, you can cook a bearing in seconds if its not set-up correctly and cost more then it would cost to get help.

Dear jaga4ulove there is no thumb rule to calculate as it depend on load,speed,size,temperature etc a bearing manufacturer/designer may better guide you
