Real Time Counter Software

12/16/2010 9:13 PM

Can anyone advise cost effective software for a desktop pc and a converter module to show the values from an input of 4-20ma/485 serial signals?

For example, there is three flowmeters displaying all three flow rates shown in separate windows in real time on a desktop pc. Some flow meters output would be 4-20ma while others would be serial 232/485 output.

Here's one software (Think & Do): http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Overview/Catalog/Software_Products/Think_-a-_Do_PC_Control

And another (LabView): http://www.ni.com/labview/buy/

(I haven't programmed in either of these, so this is not an endorsement--just an illustration. Searching "PC control" might turn up many more choices.)

This gizmo works great and the software is free. Real short learning curve. Expandable. Read up! (usual disclaimer)
