Can I use N=120F/P formula to find out the single phase motor speed

The correct formule is N [RPM] = 60 x Frequency [Hz] / the number of pool pairs.

But the formule N = 120F/P will also work if P= number of poles

exp : a 8 pole motor has 4 pole pairs and turns 750 RPM at 50 Hz

750 = 60 x 50 / 4 or 750 = 120 x 50 /8

The formule is correct for single and for 3 phase motors.

Any specified reason we are using the constant value as 120 or 60
