Acids and PH Measurment

12/20/2010 6:37 AM

I am using a +gf+ ph probe to measure the PH of HF. We are currently changing the probe weekly because the acid is eating the bulb away quickly. Is there another brand or style ph probe compatable with signet that will withstand highly corrosive acids?

Have you considered contacting the manufacturer or vendor of the instrument? They'd love to sell you a product that meets your requirements.

This was the one chosen from over half a dozen companies that let us try their probes. The rest died in as little as a half hour and as long as a day. But we are spending almost a thousand dollars a probe and I can't seem to locate a product that fits this demand. I'm sure one exists I just can't find it.

Well there's Omega. They sell a sensor that has a fluoride resistant option for $340. It sounds to me though that if half a dozen companies cannot make a product that will survive your unspecified concentration then you may want to rethink your chemistry, methodology or just accept this as part of your overhead costs.

We use Honeywell's HB probe in harsh applications. Its design tries to limit pollution of the reference junction by forcing intruding pollution along a winding path around internal barriers.

Contact the probe manufacturer. They have their reputation to defend.
