Calcium Carbonate Powder Manufacturing Using Ball Mill

12/23/2010 4:47 AM

Hey, I'm non-engineering person, looking for some answers of my questions. I am currently manufacturing calcium carbonate powder using ball mill with air classifiers as universally done. I am requiring high fineness, 97%=10 micron, 50%=2.5-3 micron. To get high results, I need to optimize my grinding in ball mill. Following are my details: Ball Mill Dimensions: 1.8m*5.8m (inner after linners) linners: ceramics Current Feed: 80% of 60 mesh Current Grinding Media: 25mm (3350 kgs), 30mm (3350 kgs), 50mm (400 kgs) Current Output from mill: 40% residue on 500 mesh & 30% residue on 325 mesh Please suggest me following: Optimum Media Charge Optimum Size of Media What should be residue from total mill output so that i can increase my production. Any help will be thankful! Regards

Ask your equipment supplier, they will be happy to help you up-grade your mill, it means business for them, and for you.

Hi Merchant,

I never used ball-mills for dry powders. I made paint by grinding pigments and extenders as CaCO3 in some liquids, in paste form. Suugest a good lecture at:

www.im-mining/wp-content/themes/immining/pdfs/SensomagArticle.pdf

My question is, because dry powder ball-milling is very energy consuming, costly. Could you add water, grind, and dry when grind is obtained?

Wish you good luck in your endeavour and best holidays, Gil.

Hi Jano,

What kind of paint you want to produce? House paints for retail or for contractors? What's the yearly volume?

When you have sales, everything can be made on high-speed mixer. Disperse pigments and extenders, add vehicle and additives, homogenize, and fill. When volume of production reach higher level, use a mixing tank separately after the dispersion, and before packaging.

If you need more, you have to pay for it, Gil.

I am not very well experienced in this field but I have the resource to commence production for selected market ( Building contractors ). I want to produce good quality paint out of crushed marble powder. I need to do it in a unique and small scale to acheive needed recognition before moving into a large scale by God's grace. Please let me consult you to determine the relevant technologies, picturial view of equipments, technical descriptions and where I could source them.
