Good Cathodic Protection

12/24/2010 12:24 PM

dear sir, Eventhough we have monolithic electrical isoloation jts. fixed in the pipe line of mounded bullet we have not been able to achieve desired value. May be the the external earthing is conducted through flange bolts. does the bullet require individual separate earthing? does the flange bolts to be insulated? please suggest a solution. enkays

The golden rule is to mark the boundries between above ground and below ground structure by installing either monolithic isolating joints or electrically insulated flanges and do not earth the below ground structure since below ground structure is only to be protected by CP.

Electrically isolating flanges are readily available in the market, these have insulation sleeves to cover the bolts and insulation washers as well.

In this case, you have to use a flange insulation kit.

Hi, enkays

consult your vendor whom supplying the system, they be able to give you better solution. somecases isolation flange doesn't required.
