Instead of motor charging of the closing mechanism have a look for solenoid closing ACB's.

Does this breaker have an electric release solenoid for the "closing" springs?? This would normally be in a circuit for operation by a "Close" pushbutton. If yes, you could arrange to operate the winding motor, to charge the closing springs, without an immediate close. A "fully open" contact of the "main supply" breaker could be wired to energize that release solenoid. But, maybe you have the simplest possible mechanism - the closing springs are released mechanically as soon as fully wound - the "close" pushbutton operates the motor. Please advise.

This spring charging time shall be allowed for a circuit breaker . Select a spring charging motor of higher capacity. Then the time may come down to 2-3 sec.Is it OK?

The components of the breaker shall be capable of such operation? Relevant International standards shall be referred for this.

Original Post (Mohamedhajah) wrote "milliseconds". He wants a momentary break, not seconds.

I am not sure whther it does work on your apllication, but for HVAC industry they use capcitor to store the charge in Damper Actuator. During power the capcitor stores the charge while damper is fullu open. In case of power loss, this capcitor discharges to close the Damper. Earlier version od Damper Actuators use to with Sprin wound which use to release the spring during power loss thus bringing back the Damper Actuator to close position.

You can visit Neptronic Controls from Canad and see how it works. www.neptronic.com

Why don't you use ultrasound delay line instead of the motor? It is used for that purpose in every TV receiver.

Hi Mohamedhajah

If you have an ATS you should have a genset, if yes the genset must provide the power to switch the ATS, if wiring and parameters are ok.

If you have no genset, you can change the wiring to mantain the spring loaded, as already written above, and use a low voltage solenoid, this will open the breaker allways the tension goes below a specific value.
