Need Some Help in Designing Plate Bending Machine.

12/31/2010 9:39 AM

Hi... Everyone...

I am designing 3 roller type pyramidal plate bending machine with pre bending facility.

Machine's capacity will be to bend M.S. Plate of Thickness 40 MM & 3000 MM Width.

Both the Bottom Rollers Will be Driven By Planetory Gear Box .

Top Roller Dia is 450 MM (Material EN8 Forged)

Bottom Rollers Dia is 390 MM (Material En8 Forged)

Minimum Dia of 40MM Thickess which shall be bend is 1800 MM

Top Roller of the machine will be fixed & bottom rollers will move up & down with the help of hydraulic Jacks.

I want the RPM of Bottom Rollers 1 to 1.5 RPM

kindly help me in this points :

1. What Size of Jack & Cylinder I should use for bottom Rollers ?

2. How Much Hydraulic pressure will be required to successfully bend 40 MM thickness Cylinder ?

3.Size of planetory gear box i should use ? ( I am thinking to buy of boschrexroth make) If want me to use any other company kindly suggest ?

4. Torque of the required gear box ?

5. Electric Motor in H.P. to be used in each bottom roller ? & RPM of motor ?

i will be very thankful to you .

We had same problem last year for an even bigger machine. The questions are the same and I do not understand how one expects to make a business for free. To design such a machine requires a lot of experience and it is not only a "making of drawings".

Interesting is the fact that one starts a design without knowing the loading of parts !

I wish I could do the same but unfortunately always before I started a design I made at least the basic computations for an estimation of loading. The way this project starts is as one would want to start a house from the top but without pillars or supporting walls hanging the roof in the sky.

Here in the USA we would refer to persons with Guests level of knowledge as "detailers".

They would do the basic stuff and the "designer" would supply the technical information to allow the detailer to finish the project. Most designers had a 4 year technical degree.

Now, CAD systems have allowed almost anyone to draw something without having the technical knowledge to complete the "design" properly.

Happy New Year.
