Power Measurement - Three Phase Circuit

01/02/2011 5:57 AM

I want to measure power in a three phase circuit . I know the voltage between the phases,Power factor and individual phase current which varies from each other So which phase current i have to take for calculating overall power consumption?

Thanks But I have doubt whether it is √3*V*I*powerfactor or 3*V*I*powerfactor

((I1+I2+I3)*(V*√3))*Cosθ

For power measuring, use power meter, power monitoring units etc. For calculating use as given above answer by Tonys. It is suggested to have read again the basics of electrical theory.

Yes..Calculate the power in each phase and add up for getting the total power. Since u know the phase voltages, currents and PF u can calculate the power consumed by each phase, and the sum is the total power drawn by the load.
