Need Advice Install VT in Incoming 12 kV Unigear ABB

01/02/2011 7:56 AM

Dear All,

i have incoming 12 kV Unigear ZS1 ABB (IF Type). This panel has no VT. actually i have 9 cubicles, 1 incoming, 1 Bus VT, 7 outgoing. for Project reason, i want to add VT (11 kV/√3 / 110 V/√3 ) in My Incoming Panel.

I have a plan to ask ABB engineer, but for a same time, i try to look answer from this forum, which one can give me fast respond as a help, i will give high appreciate for it.

Each cubicle width is 650 mm (front view). In my Cubicle VT, i use VT Type TJ 4.0. 3 pcs.(11 kV/√3 / 110 V/√3 ).

Can i purchase this type of VT (VT in My Bus VT) to be placed in my Incoming Panel ?

Or does somebody have ABB drawing for Incoming + VT Inside ? because in My office only have drawing for : Incoming (without VT), Outgoing (without VT) and Bus VT (for metering).may be from that drawing we can do some modification.

Thank you for your kindness

Contact ABB. It will be more cost effective than trying to modify the panel and a third party transformer.

Basically, all the incoming panel switchgears are equip with VT or PT and CT for the panel voltage and the metering. It is always located at the incoming panel. You can install the new VT at your incoming panel but there will be a lot of modifications works need to be done.

You need to calculate the power requirement and see if the size of the VT can be installed inside your panel. It is better to ask back the suppliers (ABB) for their advice and proposal.

As far as I know the unigear from ABB is versatile. It was designed to be addapted for different configurations. They even designed the voltage and current sensors to fit the place were VT and CT might be mounted. As Simon said what you need to consider is the secondary burden.

In the end having ABB transformer for ABB cubicle is ok. Ask the ABB guys for this and it should work.
