Under Voltage Control in DC Circuit

01/03/2011 11:47 AM

Dear All,

I want to introduce an under voltage protection in the battery discharging circuit i.e in DC circuit, hence I request you to suggest any Dc under voltage protection relay for different voltage ranges.

Awaiting for your earlier reply.

Thanks and Regards,

TSK

Dear Sukumar,

Further to your letter dated 3rd January 2011 and reply from Mr.Nickname dated 3rd January 2011 regarding the aforementioned Subject, we would like to bring your kind attention to the fact that, we have no choice left with other than to regret with our management decision on your request, taken on 3rd January 2011 in the meeting held at Helsinki,NY,as that to suggest such information to you may harmful for our company business especially during this recession period, which we seriously considering as a major function for improving the business in 2011 based on our annual report and business forecast for 2011 by the company CEO and CFO who are looking for the best possible results at least by the end of Q3 to bring back our company again in main stream with all other companies in the same business.

Thanks for understanding

IF I understand the question correctly (sorry if not)...

Do you want just a low-battery alarm or an actual low-battery disconnect device?

For a low-battery disconnect, do you want an automatic or a manual reset function?

Do you want to buy a commercial device or build a custom design yourself?

as you have made it thus far, I must assume you have internet.. would I be incorrect in assuming you have heard of "Google"?

If you have, then i suggest to find the google homepage, enter into the search bar, "DC undervoltage relay" and look at the results.. you will be amazed at what you will find.

There are many devices available to control low DC voltages. I have an OutBack MX60 Solar Charge Controller which manages my solar array. It has an Auxillary Output which is programmable. I use this function to connect a battery charger to my battery bank if the voltage drops too low. Example. My Battery bank is working at 12VDC During the day time when the sun is shining the voltage of the battery bank stays at or around 13.7VDC. On a cloudy day or at nightime the battery bank, which runs my house through an inverter, gradually discharges. I have programmed the MX60 AUX output to activate at 12.2VDC. When it activates it gives a 12VDC output maximum 200ma so this operates a relay which connects the battery charger. When the battery bank voltage reaches 13.5 the AUX output drops off and the relay releases disconnecting the charger. During sunny days the battery voltage rarely drops down to 12.2 so the charger stays off saving your electric bill. You can also use the AUX output from the MX60 to start and stop a generator. Some of my friends have purchased the MX60 before expanding to a solar system so they can start and stop their generators and in the future add solar panels. I have also heard of a device called a Genny-mate which gives programmable control relays for hi and lo battery voltage.
