Cadmium Plated Materials

Please provide your feed back regarding the use of the cadmium (for example bolts cadmium plated),

Now what I know, this product (cadmium) is forbidden for the use because is dangerous, but where this (forbidden) is write, Law, Standards,…?

As usual, a question that is geographically sensitive with no clue where OP is from.

Nothing wrong with using cad plated stuff, as long as you don't do the plating yourself or weld on the bolts and produce fumes.

Or use it anywhere near food or human skin.

E.g. fasteners or shelving in food storage/preparation/tools/devices/equipment (inc. washing) or water collection, storage and supply or irrigation.

Or such as sporting equipment in skin contact, or sweat exposed.

A quick look at the galvanic series will tell you where it's reactivity lies compared to lead and mercury which get all the fuss. Possibly as they are nouveau vogue

But No denying it has uses and advantages in many other areas. Just, it should stay there.
