Solar Panels

01/06/2011 7:31 AM

i have looke at solar film and low light panels there is many ideas on how to use the sun as power for our cars our homes - boats and so on - should we build our own solar panels and what to look for in buying parts to build a solar system

the discusion is what is the best for the dollar spent and WHAT BATTERY to store the power in and again the best bang for ones buck spent

Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions

Where have you been? How about a couple of interesting links for keeping up with some interesting current events?

http://www.newscientist.com/

New Scientist had an article about a new type of solar collector that continued to operate after the sun set because of its ability to absorb infrared energy from the ground. This link will only take you to their site, where you can search for items of interest.

How about http://www.solarbuzz.com/ for the latest developments.

And, who says you need a battery to save money with solar energy. If you produce energy all day long, selling the excess to the utility company, then you can minimize your utility bill. I find that attractive!

The news is - all transportation energy is solar.

Sunlight→photosynthesis→ingestion/digestion/bodygrowth→death→cover with sediment→compress→wait a few million years→drill with rednecks and greedy bu&&ers→extract→refine and ship to petrol station→pay tax on it→put in tank→start engine→roar off like Hannu Wazzock.

Costs? About £1.25GBP per litre.

Business as usual? Whyever not!

The most efficient solar energy collection method to date is the Hydroelectric Dam.

Solar radiation exposure of ocean causes evaporation, forms clouds, drops precipitation, flows to river, turns turbine, back to ocean.

Solar thermal ( making hot water for use) is more efficient and environment friendly than solar panels. So reducing energy bill by this way is surely earning some buck. Every house must have Solar panel to heat water. All new buildings sanctioned must have roof top solar heater. Let us wait for more environment friendly technology to evolve for making" efficient" solar panels for getting electric power. Instead of giving focus on such inefficient ways , we should focus on larger power saving possibilities like Solar water heating. Buck earns more this way..
