Spring Washer

01/07/2011 2:20 AM

I read that spring washer is used to sustain load and absorb shock. Please clarify about how spring washer sustains load in foundation bolt.

No, it doesn't. It makes sure that the nut remains tight.

Dear Nat...... try reading wikipedia on Belleville Washers... used in many clutch applications and preloading considerations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belleville_washer

Ignore the "Bellevile" washer.

Foundation bolts usually use a plain washer.
