ASTM A106GRB AND ASTM A53GRB

Whats difference b/w A106 GR B and A53 GR B. are they same ,then why this classification

A 106 covers only seamless pipe and presumes high temperature service.

A53 also lists ERW (type E) and Furnace welded (type F) You could order Astm A 53 Type E Grade B and that would be a welded, not seamless pipe.

ASTM A 106 only recognizes Seamless for the pipe. And does not recognize hot dipped galvanized. A 53 also recognizes Hot Dipped galvanized.

The formula for calculating minimum elongation (note to table 2 in each of these. also appears to be different. The A 53 has an additional factor.

Engineers specify what they specify because they want to assure attributes and properties, such as NO zinc or Zinc, No weld, or weld. etc.
