03/27/2007 6:24 AM

Hi all,

I'm actually searching a good pliers for making pinch-off in high vacuum installation. On Internet I was not able to find any good company. Someone has any idea where can I buy a good one.

Thanks a lot for any answer

A "Mole" wrench may be suitable?

Here's a possibility that is widely available.

Vise-Grip Locking Plier/Wrench

Pinch Off Jaw, Nonserrated, W/O Cutter

Starting at $13.48 Each

I managed to find a "needle nosed" Vise-Grip with a piece of rubber hose over both jaws to prevent damage to the clamped off hose. Worked great.

Hi all,

Thanks for the tips. Actually the Mole wrench and the others kind of pliers are too small and not so accurate. What we bought some years ago we paid about 2500 dollars and it's still working very fine. Due to the facts that we will need to make a lot of pinch in the nearly future we would like to find something very precise. The company the was used to produce that one just bankrupted two years ago and it seems that nobody is producing something like that. I'll try to take a picture of the pliers. Thanks again

We make our own pinch off pliers by buying a good set of bolt cutters with changeable jaws then making new jaws with a polished radius edge instead of the standard sharp jaws. Lever action cutters are best.

Like wise. We made ours out of boltcutters that you could adjust the jaw width. we just filed down the edge.

Tough and we use a micrometer to adjust blade width for different diameter pipe.
