Cosmic rays will not give you super powers

A recent study has found the next big obstacle to interplanetary space flight is radiation from cosmic rays, which would do all sorts of damage during the two-year plus voyage to Mars. The negative effects range from cancer or infertility, to brain damage. So in short any Reed Richards wannabees are really out of luck.

So according to this we should send people like John Glenn to Mars, as the incubation time for these cancers is so long.
I wonder how many people would be willing to risk getting cancer when they are 60 to be one of the first people to stand on another planet. Personally I'd say sign me up.
