Outlook 2010 Deletes My E-mails

01/11/2011 2:58 PM

Just got new Office 2010. Before I endure the agony, frustration and cost of trying to get an answer from Microsoft, I thought I'd ask here.

Simply stated, on rare occasions I recieve e-mails with no text in the body. I've spoken to the sender and they assure me that they sent a message. It's not a rules thing, I think. The only rule I run is a forwarding rule and I get the same blank e-mail at home.

Any thoughts?

This might be a solution: Within Outlook go to Tools > Options > Mail Format > Stationary & Fonts and modify the "Composing and reading plain text messages" so that it is readable font and color. This might not be your issue but it seems to be the fix for most people. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I'll give that a try tomorrow. Problem is it's only a couple of senders that get zapped, and it isn't every time.

Are the orders for the fine products from LynDoor™ Industries making it through?

I would hate to miss an order for those pre-rusted lawn tools.

Regarding your question, I don't have 2010, so no help.

No worries there. We haven't missed a single order since we went to the automated order taking system.

And don't forget to plug our pre-rusted pipe, too. That saves so much time at the job site, everybody is using it now. No waiting for the rust that never sleeps.

You must mean LynDoor™ Rustoneum®SuperRust Starter. And don't forget to follow that with LynDoor™ Rustoneum®SuperRustPitter to get that cratered appearance, so popular on 6" and larger sized pipe. (Cannot be shipped by air: MSDS on request)

Testamoanials abound for this product.

Yup, I'm a happy camper. I sprayed some of this stuff on a pile of ratty-looking A36 and convinced the bridge inspector it was Cor-Ten!

I think I'd better skip town now, on the other bridge.

Dear sir,
Regarding you 'Rusoneum' product.
I have found this product to be excellent for surface preparation prior to installing KrisDelTM press in holes. The fine rusted surface provides plenty of grip for the hole and prevents it slipping or rotating.
Thanks for your excellent product.

Seems academic, at this point, don't you think? It's my new office computer, that's the way it was set up and the problem seems to be isolated to just a few people who send me e-mails.

I may switch, if I can't solve this problem soon.

Re: Outlook 2010 Deletes my e-mails

I'm wondering what the advantage is over having a web based mail server?

I used Outlook until 06, but moved away, after trying a web based solution I used comcast mail for a few years, until I moved & discoved gmail was more portable

No problem to have any address pass through & utilizing the interface/server

There are questions dealing with various weird things that outlook does, I'm just wondering why use it?

There seems to be a certain amount of momentum [it's the way we do things], I'm just wondering what feature causes this

Something like that:- except that as you can see your "nothing":-

Is a lot smaller than mine:-

This off topic thread may not be entirely useless after all.

I wonder if Lyn can copy all the "nothing" out of an EM into notepad and read it?

Your big nothing looks better than my little one. Did you get it from KrisDel™? I couldn't see any big ones in their catalog.

It's in their "holes" section. Quite cheap, if you do a bulk buy of mixed sizes.

I think I remember a similar problem with Outlook 2007 on my home computer. I had to go to the Tools and under Options went to Security Tab and decreased the protection level. It would not open anything with attachments or pictures as it considered them a threat. There used to be a little icon box up in one corner that you could click or double click on and then it would allow the page to open up. It was quite a pain in the backside. Finally adjusted the Security setting and had no problems afterward. Your IT support should be able to verify if that's your problem. Good Luck.

Re: Outlook 2010 Deletes my e-mails

Interesting enough, it's not attachments. I revieved an e-mail with attachments from the same sender and it came through just fine.

I don't know about Outlook 2007, but with Outlook Express, when it censored incoming attachments, I could fake it out by pretending to forward the message and I could then open the document in the outgoing e-mail without sending it.

Thanks.

Try this, look on your tool bar in the upper left corner and click or double click on update folder, you may have to click on send/recieve first, now it should load all the mail and not just the intro. There are several ways of setting up how mail is loaded, for slow servers you can specify what updates and what doesn't, you can specify to have pictures automatically load or click to load. The choice is yours so now find the place to make the settings to suit your needs.

I have to use Outlook at work so I tend to keep and use it on my personal laptop.

If all else fails just start searching through all the options and settings, I think its overly versatile.

Re: Outlook 2010 Deletes My E-mails

Lyn,

Maybe it's not your system but something at their end that is causing the contents to be removed before transmission. I have a slightly different problem with incoming e-traffic where the message is sent but apparently goes into a black hole (no bounceback message to the sender, no message received at the destination). This only affects one person that I know off, but the IT guys said that they had seen this before and it turned out to be something in the other person's system. If you only see this on a limited number of senders, maybe it's something similar?

Hey There,

It turns out that the problem is with the sender's e-mail system. My company works for one of the largest municipalities in the state and the problem is apparently on their end.

Thanks for all the help.
