What is Omega Method & How to Find Omega in Buckling Calculation

I am in the elevator field....while learing the buckling of buffer extension i came cross the ω method in the buckling calculation...i just want known that how the ω formula is derived....will it vary based on the material...type

Your question is unclear. Kindly elucidate. What is a buffer extension? What part of the elevator is buckling? What is the omega method? Where did you hear about it?

Ok...i make it clear.... Omega method ( for buckling) is calculated with respect to the slender ness ratio of a material & i found that the omega value varied with respect to the material type (ex form steel RM520 omega value is 2.63).. my clarification is how to find the omega value.... what are the variable involing in it apart from the slendernss ratio...
