NVR and CCTV Cameras

On our project, we are estimating about 400 cameras to be employed, over an area of 3km x 2km.

Entire CCTV system will be based on IP technology and uses distributed NVRs, about 4 NVRs.

Entire complex will be monitored by the Central Control Room, 24 hrs a day and 365 days in a year.

Cameras to respective NVR connection will be via CAT 6 cable or a Fibre Optic Cable.

All NVRs and the Control Room will be linked by Gigabit Ethernet LAN with VLAN circuits.

Can you please advise me how many cameras can be connected to a NVR?

Do we have a limit on this and what are the limiting factors?

You do not say what NVR you are using, different products have different limitations and capabilities.

Why limit to 4 NVRs? I have seen some with the capacity of 64 video input. There may be larger ones.

Are you asking what equipment can handle 100 inputs minimum each? How much expansion?
