Accuracy of Length Counter

Gentlemen,
What is the recomended accuracy of length counter in a cable Industry?
Is any spec available?

I agree with RDGRNR. +1%, -0% sounds good.

I installed an electronic access control system once where the pigtail provided with a device was listed as 17 feet long. I worked together with the electrician setting the pipe so they could be connected without splicing. Come to find out the pigtails are 'ABOUT' 17 feet long. This was discouraging to discover.

Rule of thumb from my old days in the gaging lab for Gage repeatability and reproducibility purposes (GRR) was that the minimum acceptable resolution was 1/10 of the smallest unit measured.
