The phone book is usually a good place to start. Get at least 3 estimates.......go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Ask for references...and call them.

The US has an entity called the Better Business Bureau. Seek out Canada's counterpart and make sure the business you choose is listed.

In Ontario, the responsibility to ensure that installed electrical systems are code compliant is owned by the "Electrical Safety Authority". This not for profit inspection and regulatory compliance organization is mandated to fill this role by the provincial government.

ESA maintains a list of qualified contractors whose work has been shown to be code compliant in the past.

Click here to go to that list.

North of 60,

I can't be sure, but after I clicked your link, bad stuff started happening to my computer............malware, critical error messages......it doesn't look good. I hadn't been to any other sites but CR4. Anybody else?

Hey Mark...

I doubt it was caused by their site. ESA is a very professional organization. But... to be sure I will contact ESA, the Chief Inspector is a friend of mine, and let them know of this.

I guess it came from your link, it started happening right after it opened........some kind of malware. I was able to fix it. Doesn't look like any harm done. I used a malware detection program and eliminated it. ESA might have picked up a bug.

No way to be sure though where it came from, unless it hits someone else when they open that link. If it didn't come from there, I don't want to deter people from opening it. Time will tell I suppose.
