NFPA Fire Alarm Guidelines/Distance Requirements

02/02/2011 10:36 AM

Hi,

I need to ask please about the following issues in NFPA-Fire Alarm:

1- What is the recommended distance between smoke detectors taking into consideration a ceiling height of 6 meters?

2- same question for heat detectors.

3- How many Fire Alarm devices can be linked to one loop?

4- What is the required distance between fire Alarm Bells/Sounders?

5- same question for fire telephones.

6- what is the distance between fire speakers?

7- considering an invert level in the false ceiling that exceeds 50 cm, do we need to add anything to detectors to sense the smoke/heat?

Thank you a lot.

What does your copy of NFPA-72 say about these?

I suggest a visit to your lending library. They may have a copy.

Or, you can do as most of us have done and purchase a copy for yourself.

A professional personal library is quite common, and while this library can be expensive, you will be the 'Go To' guy on questions, not the guy asking for help.

If I were you, and I was designing a fire protection system that is intended to save lives in the event of a fire, I'd want something more concrete and tangible than the opinion of total strangers.

Somewhere along the way, someone will have to assume legal responsibility for this design, and the performance of the system.

You need professional assistance, not opinions gleaned from the internet.

Thank you for your answer.

First of all, those questions are related to fire detection system and not protection.

I am asking for guidelines in NFPA 72 to solve these issues...

What is the difference? Lives are still at risk.

Why don't you call NFPA and get an expert opinion?

Pay up.

If people on this board have a copy of NFPA-72 they have had to pay for it!
