Wanted: Straightener for Thin Tungsten Wire (Below Dia. 0.5mm)

Try googling "straightening wire" there are machines available that can do this. I bet there is even one manufactured in China.

Spring winders must first straighten the wire to wind the spring.

Why not just put it onto a larger diameter spool in the first place: you only have to avoid going beyond the elastic limit.

You may wish consider annealing the wire in an inert atmosphere after mechanically straightening it. I cannot recommend any particular equipment that does this, but if your wire has been stressed by bends or kinks, it is much more likely to fail due to metal fatigue and/or thermal shock. Something to consider whilst looking for suitable equipment. You may also try a completely different approach: find a vendor who does *not* supply you with poorly-wound/defective reels of fine tungsten wire. Avoiding the problem in the first place is nearly always the preferred route. There are ways to wind reels of fine wire so that it pays out without kinking, and there are ways not to. As the first step my suggestion to you is to locate a vendor who specializes in the former. -e

I would agree find a wire straightener which model would depend on the diameter of the wire. Their are many variations but most work the same with the number of rollers being the difference. You could look to have a whole turnkey system with dereeler, straightener, feed system and cutting heads. Again these wire cutting machines can come with many different options, look around and I'm sure you will find what you need.
