DIN rails is just a good stander way to mount equipment in equipments racks, custom built equipment, etc. etc...

From wiring terminal blocks, power supplies, circuit breakers and other items. Its allows for standardize mounting of equipment. Which allows for faster design and manufacturing and servicing of such equipment. Retrofit and up-grades are easier, neater. If a longer, shorter, or just moving the DIN rails to make room to change/add equipment only a few screws holes is all left in the base mounting from moving the rails.
